ગુજરાતી કાવ્ય સામયિક શ્રેણીની વાત ચાલતી હોય ત્યારે લુણાવાડા, પંચમહાલથી પ્રગટ થતા “કવિ”ની નોંધ લેવાનું વિસરી જઈએ એ ન ચાલે. પ્રો. મનોજકુમાર શાહ અને દિલીપ શાહના સંપાદન હેઠળ પ્રગટ થતું આ દ્વિમાસિક ઘણા વર્ષોથી નોંધપાત્ર કવિતાઓ ભાવક સમક્ષ પીરસે છે. ગણનાપાત્ર વિશેષાંકો એ આ સામયિકની ખૂબી છે. દેશ-વિદેશના કવિઓની કવિતાઓ ઠાંસી-ઠાંસીને ભરી હોવાથી વાચકને પૈસા વસૂલની લાગણી થયા વિના નહીં રહે. તમામ પ્રકારની કવિતાઓ ઉપરાંત અહીં પણ કાવ્યાસ્વાદો, કાવ્યાનુવાદો, કાવ્ય વિષયક પુસ્તકોની સમીક્ષાઓ, દેશ-વિદેશના સાહિત્યસ્વામીઓના પરિચય, સાહિત્યવૃત્ત અને કવિતા-ગઝલના સ્વરૂપ અંગેની અવારનવાર ચર્ચાઓ પણ દૃષ્ટિગોચર થાય છે.

    I think Layastaro wants me to cry for a long time today. First mention of Surat and now lunavada. I have no idea that Lunavada, My native place holds this level literature activity. It’s just simple amazing. Those small alleys ,That street-cuisine of my “gaam” is still fresh in my mind. I can’t help but to cry after all of this.

    Thanks for your heart-touching expressions. Why don’t you come forward & subscribe this magazine? Can you believe, “Kavi” as on today has only 79 life-member subscriptions? The magazine was started in 1982 & was discontinued long back. It again re-started in 2000 & in its second innings of nine years it has earned only 79 life-members…

    On Sunday, 7th September, 2008 a kavi-smammelan & Kavi’s Surat special issue inauguration program was held in Surat where I met Shree Manojkumar Shah. Meeting him made me realise how hard the book-business in Gujarat is!

    As I am moving from one place to another right now, I have no permanent address. But I think I will be able to find a shelter in the month of october. So, Then I will be more than happy to subscribe to this amazing piece of literature. And that way I might be able to help these efforts of “Book/Reading Culture” of Gujarati Sahitya.
